The installation process is very simple. To install applications use the PC-based application, PalmPilot Install Tool (or InstallApp). (This application is for both Mac and PC machines.) Open InstallApp and click the Select... button (on Mac, Browse... on PC) and choose the PalmPilot application you wish to install. Now click on the Install... button and InstallApp will prepare that application for installation. You may install more than one application at a time by clicking Install Another File or just click Exit to quit InstallApp.
The next time you HotSync the applications you have chosen will be installed onto your PalmPilot.
Deleting Applications
To delete an application from your PalmPilot open the Memory application on you Pilot and tap on Delete apps. A list of installed applications appears on the screen. Note that applications such as Memo Pad and Date Book do not appear because they are not able to be deleted. Choose the application that you wish to delete and tap the Delete... button. You will be asked to confirm the delete before it is actually deleted. This action deletes the application as well as its database(s). This means that all data related to that application will be lost.
Installing New Versions of Apps
Let╒s say you want to install a new version of an application but you don╒t want to lose the data in that application╒s database. You don╒t have to delete the older version of an application before you install the newer one. If you install the new application without deleting the older one you data will be saved. Now, this will not always be the case. If an application goes through major revisions the database may not be in the same format and the new version of the application may not be able to use it anymore.
If you are installing an application and you have the demo version of it on your Pilot or PalmPilot, you should first delete the demo with the Memory application before installing the non-demo version of the application.
